We are a small group of dedicated people that share a common goal to have abandoned, neglected or abused GSD's placed into foster to work on rehabilitation and manners until they are adopted to their forever home. Collectively, we take steps to work with a dog that comes into our care. We are not dog brokers that bring dogs in and flip them to make a profit. Those are a 'for profit' business that we do not support.
We are a small rescue and due to a lack of foster homes, we literally save one dog at a time. From the moment the dog is in our care, we take the time and money it takes to rehabilitate the dog and get it medically sound. Some never make it to be adopted because they have a terminal illness so the dog stays in our home and lives out it's life. Our by-law is a 4 dog limit and we work within that. When we become full, we can't take on anymore dogs but we do support other good standing rescues to help their dogs.
Kelli - Founder - Board Director - President
I had a German Shepherd as a young child and never forgot the experiences I had with him. He was our protector, he was our everything.
As an adult, I find myself with 3 German Shepherds that I share my home and half acre with. My goal and passion is to help unwanted and abandoned GSD's. If that means helping one dog at a time, that's what I will do.
Sue - Board Director - Vice-President
I met Sue when I was training my GSD in the dog sport of Schutzhund. Sue is very knowledgeable in all facets with dogs. She has many years of experience as a vet tech under her belt as well as obtaining Sch III on many of her German Shepherds. She is a wealth of knowledge.
Chris - Board Member - Secretary Treasurer
I met Chris when she contacted me to adopt one of my available senior dogs. The dog had already been adopted and I told her I just brought in another dog and she was welcome to come and meet him. She came that day and really liked the dog. The following day I took the dog to her house for a visit. He hopped up on the large arm chair and he never left!
All dogs adopted will receive a complimentary 6 weeks of pet insurance with Petsecure. Petsecure is the official pet insurance provider of Guide Us Home German Shepherd Rescue.
We rely exclusively on foster families to care and work with the dogs until we find their forever home. We are not a shelter and we don't have a dedicated facility to accommodate the dogs we take in. We are in dire need of good foster homes so help more dogs.
Foster families are paramount to the success of a rescue organization. Without foster families we can't save dogs that have been dumped are roaming free on a remote reservation or are in the shelter system with the high possibly of being euthanized.
If we have available funds but no foster families to care for our dogs, we help financially support another reputable rescue by sponsoring a dog that is going into their care.
Help make a difference and sign up to volunteer today!
